"Where do you mount your skis?"
I've played around with numerous mounting points, from dead center of the ski to the suggested mounting positions. It all comes down to how you want your skis to perform. If your a backcountry jibber, than a mounting point at or near the center of the ski is best for tricks and skiing backwards in pow. The main downside to the center mount position is you'll have to lean back in deeper conditions because the long tale wont sink as naturally into the snow as it would at a suggested mounting point, you also wont be able to put as much pressure on the front of your boots due to the shorter tip. If your an all mountain shredder you may find yourself more in my position. I've slowly moved away from center mounting my skis over the past 4 years. Every year I move a centimeter back, I now mount my skis at the suggested +1 mark on my Scott Scrapper 115s. I've chosen this mounting position as I'm primarly ski touring, riding deep powder and big mountain lines. The +1 mounting position enables me to charge hard and have confidence leaning forward on the front of my boots in deep pow, it also allows the ski to perform at its best as the ski was designed to flex and turn on the suggested mounting points. At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference and how you like to ski. I encourage you to find what works best for you.
